About Us

The Jahanara and Anwar Saikia Center for Peace Studies (JASCPS) is a visionary space for intercultural dialogue, scholarly engagement, and community-based peacebuilding. Situated at the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), the Center engages critically with the interconnected realms of memory, history, culture, and peace – especially within the ethnically diverse and historically layered context of Northeast India.

Established in collaboration with Arizona State University, USA, JASCPS honours the legacy of Jahanara and Anwar Saikia by bridging local knowledge traditions with global discourses on peace, justice, and reconciliation.

Our Strengths

As part of its commitment to fostering critical inquiry and transformative learning, the Jahanara and Anwar Saikia Center for Peace Studies (JASCPS) offers a range of academic programs designed to deepen understanding of peacebuilding in South Asia and beyond. Anchored in both local contexts and global discourses, the Center’s offerings include a Certificate Course in Peacebuilding in South Asia, Joint Online Seminars with Arizona State University, and an Annual Peace Writing & Research Workshop. These programs provide students, researchers, and practitioners with interdisciplinary tools to engage with complex themes such as memory, conflict, and reconciliation—particularly within the ethnically diverse fabric of Northeast India.

Research

JASCPS undertakes interdisciplinary research on peace, memory, conflict, and cultural resilience with a focus on Northeast India and South Asia.

Publications

The Center publishes research papers, policy briefs, and its forthcoming Annual Peace Report, contributing to regional and global peace discourses.

Collaborations

JASCPS partners with academic institutions, civil society, and international organizations to foster dialogue, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives.
